To the Barnard School Community,
Joanna Genovese, principal, has taken a position at a school in another district and state. Ms. Genovese capably led Henry Barnard School for the past three years, effectively leading improvements in inclusive practices, English language arts instruction, and school culture.  We wish her well in her return to Connecticut and are grateful for her contributions to the City School District of New Rochelle.
We have launched an extensive search for a new leader for Barnard school, and invite your input into the desired characteristics for the next principal.  Dr. Joseph Williams, Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources, and Dr. Magda Parvey, incoming Assistant Superintendent/Chief Academic Officer, will co-lead the search process, which will include representative parents and staff from the Barnard School Community.  Dr. Williams and Dr. Parvey will communicate with you about opportunities to provide your input in the process.
Mr. Ken Levy, an experienced retired elementary principal who has successfully served in interim capacities at Ward Elementary, Trinity Elementary, and Columbus Elementary schools will serve as interim principal while the search for a permanent principal is underway.  Ms. Genovese, Mr. Levy, and Assistant Principal Lori Pisani will work together for the remainder of the summer to ensure a smooth transition and a successful opening for the 2016-2017 school year.
Thank you for all you do to support our growing children at Henry Barnard School.
Sincerely,
Brian Osborne
Superintendent of Schools
